I'll need to look closely into it. From the first
look I only saw it's _not so simple_ to say the least.

I was hoping there's some elegant (simple to understand)
solution that I overlooked... ;(

As I wrote I did it in ADS by straight resbuf-substitution,
which I hope is pretty fast, so now I'll need to check
run-times with my Brand New Vital LISP ;) ;)

Your routines will be of great edicational value for me.
